Dr. Sandro Leite and Dr. Zahoor Ahmad, esteemed ENT surgeons from Botany ENT Care, recently participated in the 7th Congress of European Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery, held in Dublin, Ireland, in June 2024. The Congress was the largest gathering of ENT professionals in Europe, attracting over 3,000 attendees from around the world. Both Dr. Leite and Dr. Ahmad were honored to be invited as speakers, sharing their expertise in sessions focused on salivary gland diseases.

As world-renowned experts in minimally invasive surgery for obstructive salivary gland diseases, our team has frequently been invited to present at international congresses and courses. During the Dublin Congress, Dr. Leite and Dr. Ahmad presented on advanced techniques for the management of salivary gland obstructions, particularly focusing on the latest developments in sialendoscopy. Their presentations highlighted the innovative approaches our team employs in treating patients with conditions that, in the past, might have required more invasive surgery or even gland removal.

Sialendoscopy is a cutting-edge, minimally invasive procedure used to treat salivary gland obstructions caused by stones or other blockages. It involves the use of a small endoscope to visualize and remove the obstruction, thereby preserving the gland and minimizing patient discomfort and recovery time. Dr. Ahmad and Dr. Leite are the most experienced surgeons in New Zealand in performing this procedure, having successfully completed hundreds of cases. Their extensive experience and expertise have made them leading figures in the field, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care available for this condition.
